Wire C68

High carbon steel wire rods with carbon content of 0.4% to 0.85% and pearlitic microstructure are known as high strength wire rods which have wide range of applications in production of springs with various amount of stiffness, pre stressed concrete (PC) strands and wires, aerial conductors (ACSR), etc. High percent of carbon and manganese lead to high strain hardening rates, therefore after cold drawing process, predominant increase in ultimate tensile strength with respect to primary mechanical properties will be obtained. Several grades of this group of wire rods including C42, C47, C62, C68, C72 and C82 are manufactured according to specifications indicated by EN 10016 standard. Following tables indicate mechanical and chemical properties.
