Due to low carbon and other alloy elements contents in mild steels, they have low strength and excellent deformability during cold forming processes, as well as cold drawing process. Low strain hardening rate in these types of steels leads to more reduction of area, therefore they are suitable for production of small diameter wires like armature wires, nails, low strength bolts , fence , net, etc. chemical analysis and mechanical properties of some grades of this group are as follows.
